In the mid to late 70’s the small town of Woodland Heights, UK was plagued by a series of strange events and egregious crimes. This online journal compiles as much known information about the events that took place and their possible motives/explanation. Although unconfirmed and with large parts of these crimes still unsolved it is important from a journalistic standpoint to remind you that a lot of this research is only speculative. Now almost five decades on we hope to uncover more of the truth surrounding the savage mystery that terrorised WH. A bloody trail of bodies was left behind following these brutal tragedies and the remaining relatives of the deceased are still desperately looking at the Woodland Heights Police Dept for answers.

These occult killings were some of the most prolific murders to grace the area and at first glance could appear fairly straightforward, but I warn you now dear reader. There is nothing straightforward about what took place within the Blackwoods Forest…

WOODLAND HEIGHTS, UK:

Boasting a current population of almost 900, numbers were closer to 600 in the 1970’s. Woodland Heights is a quaint and idyllic looking village located in rural England. The town has become almost infamous amongst supernatural conspiracists due to the string of unexplained and mysterious events that have taken place there over the last 100 years.

Unfortunately the ‘Ormon Cult Murders’ and the incident in ‘79 are only a blip in a long line of events that have taken place in the area throughout the last century. In the same decade as the Occult killings of Melanie Curtis and Alan Spencer, a writer named Henry Delapore went insane killing his wife, daughter and groundskeeper in a fit of madness at his Country Home - Arkham House (he now resides in Heights State Asylum). Penelope Harker disappeared from her childhood home the same year, apparently visting to organise the estate after the passing of her mother. Seemingly vanishing into thin air, a single note was found onsite in one of the upstairs bedrooms of the house reading ‘Don’t look up…’ A decade or so earlier, in 1959, a young girl was brutally murdered by her father after he carved a smile into her face and disposed of her body in the surrounding woodland. She is said to still haunt the Blackwoods Forest to this day with sightings reported as recently as Halloween 2009. Moving on to the mid to late 80’s several young girls were found butchered in the Blackwoods Forest, apparent victims of 2 masked killers known as ‘Baghead’ & ‘Babyface’ - the killings seem to abruptly end toward the end of the decade and the perpetrators were never found.

The town has recorded almost 3 times the national average of missing persons cases since the 1960’s (when statistics were published and could be monitored). Consulting newspaper clippings from the Woodland Weekly Paper we can see the strange phenomena associated with the town looks to have really started back in the 1920’s with a huge explosion at Durridge Manor. Since then sightings of a local legend known only as ‘Wicked Jenny’ have helped boost tourism for several decades to water sports facilties and camping grounds along the bank of the River Murch which runs through the town - but again drownings and accidents near to this body of water are extremely high - Police are still looking for a middle aged woman who went missing in 2022. In Halloween of the same year 2 supposed thieves were found dismembered and drained of blood in a suburban property along with the owner of the house, initially authorities believed this to be an animal attack and have still yet to come to a formal conclusion.

Going back to 2018 a young couple (Sophie & David Watson) made the national news after David was discovered to have been murdered in his sleep - Sophie was arrested after being found hysterically yelling ‘Do you see it too?’ and is serving a life sentence in prison, still claiming they were the victim of an entity ‘that only came at night…’ In 2019 Andi Chandler was found deceased at a local motel - a clear victim of foul play, however all the doors and windows were locked and no prints, dna or evidence of anyone else was found on the scene. She was discovered in a half empty bathtub after committing armed robbery at Serling Bank where she shot and killed several townsfolk including a young child. Just last year a young male photographer went missing in the Blackwood’s Forest sparking up rumours of an international figure of folklore known as ‘The Whistle.’

Alongside these strange occurences, the town is well known for it’s annual Halloween Parade and Summer Solstice Festivals that attract a variety of folk from surrounding areas and beyond each year. The solstice events of ‘78 were actually the reason Christine Langley, Melanie Curtis and Alan Spencer were staying in Woodland Heights as they planned to attend following their fateful hike in the National Park.
